The competition was fierce with a lot of other dogs showing up to vie for the big prize. I proudly trotted around the circle with them showing my stuff. One was dressed as Superman, Tinkerbell was there and a sailor dog who took second place.

But it was I who caught the eye of the judges in the end! When they announced the runners up we waited in anticipation..... Then came time to announce first prize... The crowd began chanting "Spider Dog" over and over again and then came the magical moment when they announced that I had indeed won the big prize!

I could hardly believe my fuzzy ears! I WON! From such a humble beginning being rescued from the dog pound to this.... King of the Downtown Pet Costume Contest!

After receiving my winning shopping bag full of prizes the photographer tried to get a picture of me to commemorate the event but every shot he got was of me with my head shoved deep into my prize bag: basically my scruffy body with a blue shopping bag head.

Finally Mom made me pull my head out and sit nicely for my winning portrait.

It was a glorious night I will never forget!
