LEMON LAWS IN OTHER STATES

If you purchase a puppy that turns out to be sick due to an illness or congenital defect you may be able to get some or all of your money back depending on the laws where you live. To protect yourself be sure to save your dated purchase receipt, all veterinary receipts and any photos or video that substantiate that your pet was unhealthy for any reason. This can help you in case you are able to seek compensation from the seller under your local statutes and can also help to protect you if you publicize any disputes you have with a particular breeder or pet shop who may attempt to sue you for slander.

The Animal Protection Institute lists laws by state and who to contact if your state doesn't offer animal lemon laws.
